My Goals For 2017

A little bit belated but Happy New Year! I hope you all had a brilliant 2016! I'm feeling pretty optimistic about 2017 and I'd like to just share a few of my thoughts on my goals for the new year. I love hearing how a new year can motivate others, so if you've got a goals or resolutions post, please link it below as I'd love to give it a read!

This post is going to be just a casual ramble as it's pretty much the first properly wordy post I've written since before Christmas, I'm still a little bit in a food coma so we'll see how it goes! One of the main highlights of 2016 was completing my degree. I was over the moon to get a BA in Photography, Video & Digital Imaging from UoS, especially pleased to get a 2:1! For me in 2017 I'm looking forward to really getting to grips with hopefully being able to do my photography full time, unfortunately it's really not as easy as all that, leading to my second point...Hopefully 2017 will be the year me and my boyfriend get our own little house! It might be a little bit of a long shot and may even take us until 2018, but fingers crossed we can do it in 12 months! So with that being said, trying to get a mortgage and declaring myself as self employed all at the same time is more than complicated. Luckily I've got a great part time job while I work on building up my own business which enables me to be able to save up towards a deposit on a house.

In terms of goals for my blog, I aim to just plow on, I still absolutely love photographing and creating content for my blog, I'd like to focus a little more on outreach and aim to schedule more tweets and post more in blogger groups.

Something not as deep is that I aim to read 50 books this year, I completed my Goodreads Reading Challenge last year and read 50 books which I really really enjoyed. I found setting aside time in the day away from screens to read my book was really beneficial. Other goals for me on a personal level include not comparing myself to others, realising that the world portrayed on social media is often through rose tinted glasses and to not give a shit what others think!

  1. Great goals, I wish you success with them in 2017! Your business venture sounds promising too. I can relate to wanting less screen time, and I agree reading books is a good way to do that. I hope to achieve my humble 20 books to be read this year on Goodreads. :-) xx
