North East Visits | Riley's Fish Shack Newcastle Quayside

Me and Steven had been itching to go to the new Riley's Fish Shack that recently opened on the quayside. We still haven't managed a visit to the one in Tynemouth yet, we did try one but they didn't have any food left when we got there, shows how popular they are! But after a mosy around the quayside market we popped in here for lunch. The unit is in a great spot on the quayside, right on the fake beach that they put up over Summer, so you can even enjoy your food on a deckchair! Luckily there were a couple of seats free that I grabbed as it was super busy.

I went for the Fish Finger Sandwich (£4.50), two big breaded pieces of white fish with salad and a homemade tomato sauce with some amazing huge toasted crusty bread! It was seriously yummy! Steven went for the Tempura Whiting Wrap (£4.50), his came with salad and a ginger lime and chilli dressing and he thought it was delicious. We also went for a side of Garlic Rosemary Potatoes (£1.50) which were so good! I think that the value for money here is pretty good, often for this style of pop up food can cost a bomb!

We were both really impressed with Riley's Fish Shack, you get a gorgeous view out over the "beach" and the river and bridges. The service here isn't the fastest but they were super busy and still did a great job. The food is delicious and it's nice to see fish being used in a fast food capacity as something other than fish and chips!

Have you been to Riley's Fish Shack?

  1. The one time we tried Riley's in Tynemouth they were closed! Glad we're not the only ones with rubbish luck. Really really need to get to the Quayside shack before the Summer's over (just realised with the Summer holidays approaching it had better be soon!)
