Review | L'Occitane En Provence Shea Butter Ultra Rich Shampoo & Conditioner

For Christmas I was lucky enough to get a L'Occitane En Provence Shea Butter gift box. The box included Shea Butter Hand Cream, Shea Butter Foot Cream, Ultra Rich Body Cream and the shampoo and conditioner which I am reviewing. I wasn't really a massive fan of this brand and hadn't really tried any of their products until last year. To be honest I found their products to be a little too floral for me. However after receiving this box from my boyfriends mam for Christmas I was more than willing to give them another go. I suffer from dry skin and this box was recommended by the sales assistant. I was really pleased when I received this box as I love Shea Butter products and was really excited to give them a go.

Now before I start this review I will say that the Ultra Rich Body Cream I also received from this range is gorgeous, I absolutely love it and it is prefect for dry skin, I will also do a review on that if you lot fancy! I say this because I found the shampoo and conditioners from this box rather disappointing.

These travel sizes are not sold separately however you can buy the larger sizes online, I will post below all the details of the products I have mentioned. First off I will start with the packaging which I love, I love the brown paper wrapping of the bottle, I think they look really natural. I also think they are a perfect travel size and the little bottles are extremely cute.

Now that the pleasantries are over I will get on with the stuff I was not so thrilled about. I totally suffer from dry damaged hair, it's not to the extreme or anything but having bleached blonde hair comes at a price. I thought that this shampoo and conditioner would do wonders for my hair, Shea butter is supposed to be nourishing. But they left me quite disappointed. The scent of the products is a little soapy, smells like you're washing your hair with moisturiser!

This is how the shampoo is described on the website 'Selected for its nourishing and restructuring properties, Shea Butter deeply nourishes the capillary fibers and protects hair and scalp against harsh conditions (sun, wind, cold, coloration's…) Hair is instantly shiny, soft and smooth.'

I honestly don't think this could be any more wrong. The shampoo did not lather up very well and instead of nourishing my hair it felt drier than before I'd put it on!

This is how the conditioner is described on the website 'Enriched in Shea Butter, this conditioning cream nourishes and restructures dry hair from roots to ends. Its rich formula regenerates and repairs dry ends and protects hair against harsh elements (sun, wind, cold, over processing). Conditioning agents shield the capillary fibres and detangle hair. Ultra Rich Conditioner leaves hair shiny, soft and smooth.'

Again this couldn't be more wrong, after leaving the conditioner on for a good ten minutes this conditioner did nothing for my hair. The worst part about this conditioner is the part about detangling, after drying my hair couldn't have been more tangled if it tried! It made my hair horribly matted and awful to brush out. I couldn't believe that it was described to detangle hair!

Overall I was disappointed with the shampoo and conditioner. My hair did not feel shiny, soft or smooth. I was very surprised not to like these products. The other L'Occitane En Provence Shea Butter products are lovely! I was so disappointed! I think it's a shame really, considering how expensive these are! Think I will stick to Aussie in the future!

Have you tried these products? What did you think?
